Noise Studies
ENPLAN uses several noise prediction models, depending on the nature of the analysis, complexity of the project, and noise environment. These noise models include the Federal Highway Administration Traffic Noise Model (TNM), and Caltrans LEQv2 and SOUND32 models.
Studies conducted by ENPLAN have addressed noise sources that range from wood-fired power plants to spectator sports facilities, canning factories, and truck vehicle traffic. All measurements are taken in accordance with accepted methodologies such as ISO or ASTM, using Type I/II integrating sound level meters. Evaluations are made in reference to community planning standards such as local noise control ordinances, the California Model Community Noise Control Ordinance, and are based on accepted CNEL/Ldn measurement methodology.
Predicted noise levels from increased traffic volumes or other activities associated with proposed land uses are projected in reference to parcel boundaries or planimetric features in accordance with applicable regulations or client objectives. Predictive studies may address a variety of variables such as vehicle mix, stationary source operation patterns, topographic conditions, and mitigation options.
